Brisbane captain Moore lends support to ill Hartson

Brisbane Roar skipper Craig Moore has lent his support to the cause of ill former Celtic star John Hartson. The 34-year old Welshman has been diagnosed with brain cancer and is about to undergo intensive treatment.

Moore, who beat a cancer scare late last year, has urged Hartson to stay strong.

"Knowing big John as a player, an opponent and a fellow professional, I know he is a strong man in every way," said Moore.

"He was a strong player and he was always up for any challenge.

"Hopefully, this is something that, with mental toughness and strength of character, he will come through. It's a big test for anyone and it's incredibly important that you stay positive about it.

''When you are told you have cancer, it's a huge shock and you do start to think the worst possible things. But you have to fight that and be as positive as you can be. For me, that helped enormously.''
