Brighton & Hove Albion reportedly rejected interest in Craig Mackail-Smith from Championship clubs prior to his return to Peterborough United.
The 30-year old English-born Scotland striker joined former club Peterborough on a one-month loan on Thursday following the arrival of Aston Villa's Darren Bent at the Amex Stadium.
Sky Sports suggests that Brighton received plenty of interest from the likes of Sheffield Wednesday, Millwall and Charlton Athletic for Mackail-Smith but the south coast club opted to instead send him to League One rather than risk having him play with a second tier rival.
Mackail-Smith joined the Seagulls from the Posh in the summer of 2011 but will now suit-up again for his old club where he will remain until January.
