Brighton's Mackail-Smith reveling in Miller comparison

Craig Mackail-Smith says he is not bothered by recent comparisons being made between he and Scotland star Kenny Miller.

The Watford-born Brighton striker opened his international goalscoring account with the only goal in Scotland's 1-0 win over Liechtenstein in Euro2012 qualifying on Friday night but along with Miller, is in doubt for tonight's vital clash with Spain in Alicante.

But even if he doesn't play because of a hamstring injury, Mackail-Smith says it is nice to put in the same bracket as Miller who has done the business for his nation for so many years.

"It is nice if other people are saying there's a new Kenny Miller in town," he said.

"He has been a terrific player down the years and is someone I admire and watch a lot.

"If he is fit then it creates a good problem for the gaffer. I will work as hard as I can to get myself into the team.

"Kenny wished me all the best before the Liechtenstein game which was nice and he congratulated me on the goal.

"It is hard work up front on your own, but I just enjoy running around.

"To play Spain away is a fantastic challenge and I will do the best I can if I am picked.

"You're talking about some fantastic players, the world's best, and we want to see if we can cut it at that level. We were watching Spain on TV on Friday night. They were pretty impressive.

"It is the kind of game you would love to play in. They can create openings at will, but we just have to try our best."
