Brighton are making a loan move for Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater.

The Daily Mail says Drinkwater is wanted by Brighton on a season loan.

The 29-year-old was left out of Chelsea's squad for their final pre-season friendly against Borussia Monchengladbach along with Tiemoue Bakayoko as the Stamford Bridge club consider offers for the duo.

Drinkwater failed to play under Maurizio Sarri and while he has had a limited chance under Frank Lampard has been unable to stake a claim for a first team starting place.

The former England international joined Chelsea for £35million after winning a Premier League title with Leicester City and signed a five year contract of which he still has three years left.
