Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi watched Joao Pedro's return with excitement.
Pedro was back in the team for the Albion's 0-0 draw against Brentford in midweek.
De Zerbi is a huge admirer of the forward and hopes that he remain at the club next season.
Asked by The Argus about Pedro, De Zerbi said: “He played very well. He makes a difference every time.
“On the bench I said 'what a player' because it is very tough playing against Brentford because they are physical players, strong players, very tough to win the duel.
“And he won 90% of duels. I am very happy for him.
“He is improving in mentality. He is becoming a top player for us at our level.
“And, if you become a top player for us, you can become important for the higher level of teams.
“But I hope and I want and I would like – you decide what I have to say – but I would like Joao Pedro can stay with us next season."
