Brighton have signed Newcastle United goalkeeper Steve Harper on a month's loan.

Harper has now taken up the opportunity to play some first-team football after agreeing to spend the next month with Championship side Brighton.

"Harps is keen to play," said Pardew in the Evening Chronicle. "It is a real coup for Brighton.

"Steve has been unfortunate to have Tim come through in the way he has.

"He is a top young keeper and will play at the top for years to come."
