Brighton boss Hughton: The players must make us proud at Wembley

Brighton boss Chris Hughton wants his players to make the club proud in their FA Cup semifinal against Manchester City.

Hughton says what matters most is the way his team perform on the big stage.

He told The Argus: “I think it's everything. We are very realistic how huge the task it is. Firstly for me it's about a performance.

“If we are able to put in a performance that we are proud of it gives us a chance, if we don't then, of course, it gives us no chance."

Hughton is confident the semi-final showdown with City will have no adverse effect on Albion's main aim to stay in the Premier League.

“Probably no, because the Cup games tend to be very much one-off games," he said. “We understand the level of the team we are up against, what the odds are.

“So I think whatever the performance or result, I would be confident that come Monday morning the heads would be very focused on a tough home game against Bournemouth."
