Brazilian legend Pele backs USA for World Cup 2026

Pele believes the USA should be handed hosting rights for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Russia will host then next tournament in 2018 before Qatar will handle the controversial 2022 cup but world football legend Pele hopes the 23rd edition of the FIFA competition takes place in the US.

"Oh, yes. No doubt. No doubt," Pele told the New York Post.

"I am one who did some work for the World Cup to be here, and the organizers were perfect. They deserve it, no doubt, for the vote in FIFA to give them the next World Cup.''

It is expected that the USA, who hosted the 1994 World Cup which was won by Brazil, will bid for the 2026 tournament with the host to be selected in May 2017.
