Braithwaite 'very happy' about Espanyol move: I don't care what people say about me

Martin Braithwaite is delighted to have signed for Espanyol.

Released from his contract at Barcelona, the Denmark striker has signed with Espanyol to 2025.

He said today: “I am very happy to be here. When Espanyol called me, I felt that I could stay and live in Barcelona but above all I liked the project of the club, it has the same values as me andalso how the coach (Diego Martinez) wants to play.

“He wants energy, he wants to win every game, he is intense in every training session. I'm like him, I know that to achieve things you have to work every day, you can't fall asleep during training. I'm here to work hard.

“I have good feelings with him, I am convinced that we are going to do good things together."

Regarding his time with Barcelona, Braithwaite: "For me today is a happy day, what has happened in recent months is not important.

“I don't care what people say about me, because my values are my life. Here at Espanyol there are things to do, I have seen a club that loved me and that has valued me, and that is very important.

"The sports project is the most important thing, and I like it.

“I'm not thinking about the day we play at the Camp Nou, for me the most important thing is the next game, at San Mamés, against Athletic."
