Boyata wants Celtic van Dijk partnership after completing move from Man City

Celtic's latest acquisition Dedryck Boyata is looking forward to partnering with Dutchman Virgil van Dijk in the heart of the defence for the Hoops.

The 24-year old Belgian centre-back has signed a four-year deal with the Scottish champions after leaving Manchester City and is eager to team up with van Dijk after watching him play alongside former City teammate Jason Denayer.

"I saw van Dijk play for Groningen when I was on loan at FC Twente. I was also looking at Celtic last season to watch Jason," said Boyata.

"I can see what type of player Dirk is and I think he's a really good player.

"I can't say that we will be good together for a fact just yet, but obviously I want that.

"The manager has told me that he can see something really good there and obviously I believe him."
