Bournemouth want financial restrictions easing

Bournemouth have asked the Football League lift their transfer embargo as the Cherries begin to get their finances under control. The Cherries have paid debts owed to HM Revenue & Customs and various football creditors, although the embargo still stands due to the club's "legacy debt".

In a section of a statement released to the Bournemouth Daily Echo, Vice-chairman Jeff Mostyn said: "The league has now acknowledged that we have paid our outstanding liabilities to both HMRC and football creditors. We are, however, still embargoed in relation to the August 2008 agreement that carries the legacy debt.

"As part of the agreement, the club has to submit monthly accounts to the Football League. What is frustrating to everyone is that it is the legacy debt, as everyone is aware, that is still causing the problem.

"I have pleaded with the league, in light of the progress we have made, to put forward a case to the full board for a relaxation of the embargo - at the very least to enable us to sign loan players in January. We will await the outcome of their deliberation."
