AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was left fuming at referee Lee Mason after watching his side slip to third on the Championship table.
The Cherries could only manage a 1-1 draw at Cardiff City which allowed Watford and Middlesbrough to move into the top two spots of England's second tier.
Regular Premier League ref Mason waved away a strong first-half penalty appeal from Bournemouth before he disallowed a goal which occurred in bizarre fashion 73rd minute of the encounter.
Cardiff goalkeeper Simon Moore blasted his clearance into Callum Wilson's back and the ball then rebounded off the crossbar and into the path of Wilson, who slotted home.
However, Mason disallowed the goal instead showing a yellow card to Wilson, which infuriated Howe.
Howe said: "You'll have to ask the referee why the goal was not allowed, I don't think he had a particularly good game and that's an understatement.
"Callum was looking the other way, he stood his ground which is allowed and the goalkeeper has kicked it at his back.
"That's a real strange decision and ultimately it's cost us two points.
"In my view, it was a penalty in the first-half, that's my honest opinion having looked at it."
