Bournemouth ahead of Brighton for Huddersfield midfielder Billing

Bournemouth are closing on a deal for Huddersfield Town midfielder Philip Billing.

The Sun says Cherries boss Eddie Howe faces competition from Brighton for the Danish midfielder but is set to wrap up a deal starting at £15million to keep him in the Premier League.

Billing was axed by Terriers boss Jan Siewert at the end of last season and has not been given a squad number.

The 23-year-old has just one season left on his contract at the John Smith's Stadium and his club will cash in before his value drops over the season.

Howe has led the chase for a player who moved from Denmark as a teenager before starting his senior career with Huddersfield.

He wants cover in central midfield as Lewis Cook is recovering from a cruciate knee injury.
