Bosnich: Kewell needs new club or Australian spot is gone

Mark Bosnich believes that Harry Kewell needs to find a new club soon or his position in the Australian national team will be in danger.

The former Leeds United, Liverpool and Galatasaray winger is without a club after leaving Melbourne Victory and former Socceroos goalkeeper Bosnich is of the belief that he needs to be playing regularly in order to make an impact at international level.

With a friendly against Lebanon in Beirut on September 8 ahead of a 2014 World Cup qualifier in Jordan on the 12th, Bosnich says that Kewell should not be selected as he has not played in months.

"I wouldn't play Harry (in Lebanon and Jordan) if he's not playing. You can't put him ahead of people that are playing," Bosnich told Fox Sports.

Despite that, the former Manchester United and Chelsea keeper still feels that Kewell is good enough to play in the Premier League after he was sighted at Stoke City's training ground this week.

"I hope it's the Premier League because I still think he can do a job at that level," Bosnich added.

"But it's very difficult when you've been out of the EPL for a long time. It's the best league in the world for a reason.

"I just don't want him to go scratching around asking for gigs - he deserves better than that.

"For me, he has nothing to prove over there. I just don't want to see a player of his quality going to places like Stoke, who would have begged him five years ago to play for them, unannounced."
