Borussia Dortmund are encouraging Manchester United to bid for Ilkay Gundogan.
The Daily Express says German reports state the midfielder does not want to sign a new contract with Jurgen Klopp's side.
Gundogan's current deal expires in the summer of 2016, and following Robert Lewandowski's acrimonious departure to Bayern Munich on a free transfer, Dortmund are keen to cash in.
United are the favourites to land the 24-year-old, and Gundogan has previously admitted that he would jump at the chance to test himself in the Premier League.
He said: "Playing outside Germany is one of my big goals.
"If one day I leave here, I'd like to play in Spain or for one of the big teams in England."
