Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill risks pricing himself out of a move to Chelsea.
The Daily Express says Cahill has staggered the Blues by demanding a £120,000-a-week contract after Chelsea and Bolton had agreed a £7million fee.
That would put him on the same salary as Chelsea left-back Ashley Cole and only £30,000 a week short of top earners John Terry, Frank Lampard and Fernando Torres.
With his Bolton contract expiring in the summer, Cahill is aware he can get a big deal - but Chelsea have told the defender to get real. They are prepared to give him £70,000 a week, which is still more than summer signing Juan Mata.
