Bolton Wanderers failed with an ambitious offer for Saint Etienne striker Bafe Gomis.
The Sun says Bolton have revealed they had a bid of £10million for France striker Gomis rejected by Saint Etienne back in January.
The Trotters have just broken their transfer record, paying Toulouse £11million for striker Johan Elmander of Sweden.
