Real Madrid left-back Marcos Alonso has become a top target for Bolton, with the club ready to include him in their pre-season tour of the USA.
Trotters boss Owen Coyle is desperate to bring the Spaniard in and is prepared to part with £2.2million for his services.
It is believed that Alonso is keen on regular first team football and is open to the move with Bolton likely to beat off competition from Portugal's Benfica and Spain's Getafe.
