Kevin Davies says he would like to play on for one more season.
The 38-year old striker is coming to the end of his two-year deal with League One club Preston North End but has revealed that he wants to play again next term.
Davies, who previously spent around a decade at Bolton, said his future does not necessarily depend on whether or not the Lilywhites offer him a new deal to remain at Deepdale.
He told Sky Sports News HQ: "We are due to sit down with the manager (Simon Grayson).
"If it's a 'Thanks and we wish you well' then so be it, that's fine. But if they want me to stay and do another year and maybe do some coaching, then we will have to see.
"At the start of the season I thought this would be my last year, but now I feel I can do another year playing. We will just have to see what offers come in."
Davies and his Preston teammates are preparing for Sunday's promotion play-off final against Swindon Town at Wembley.
