Bolton defender Connolly thrilled with Coyle call-up

Former Wolves defender Mark Connolly is delighted to be part of Bolton Wanderers' senior preseason.

The Republic of Ireland Under- 21s defender was given a boost this week as he joined Danny Ward and Tom Eaves in training alongside Wanderers' senior stars.

After featuring in a handful of Coyle's squads at the end of last season, Connolly hopes he can do enough during the club's forthcoming US tour to convince the manager he can be part of his first-team plans again.

He told the Bolton News: "Over the summer I thought to myself I'm going to work really hard, whether that's with the first team or the reserves and try my best," said the 19-yearold, who is entering into the last year of his contract.

"I was in the dressing room ready to go down to Lostock with the reserves but when they said I was in with the first team I thought to myself, 'here's your chance, you'd better take it'.

"You don't get many chances but if you take one, the gaffer will keep you in there."
