Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill was happy with his performance alongside David Wheater in victory over Everton.
Zat Knight limped off on 27 minutes after making a goal-saving challenge on Victor Anichebe but despite the circumstances of their first game together, Cahill was pleased with the way he linked up with Wheater.
"I saw Zat at half time and he said something had gone inside," the England international told The Bolton News. "He tried to come back on but he was really struggling.
"It was a superb tackle he made, which was unfortunate, but I thought David Wheater did superbly when he came on.
"It's hard to come on as a substitute for a centre back, trying to get to the pace of the game. But he filled Zat's shoes and looked really solid."
