Bolton boss Megson confident winning Taylor race

Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson remains confident of beating Middlesbrough for Portsmouth wing-back Matty Taylor.

The two clubs agreed a £3.75million deal two weeks ago but Redknapp is sticking to his guns, insisting Taylor will not be allowed to leave Fratton Park until he has strengthened his own squad.

Nevertheless, Megson refuses to be panicked into looking elsewhere, confident Pompey's stubborn stance is not jeopardising the transfer.

"If that had been the case, we'd have moved on already," he told the Bolton Evening News. "I've wanted to sign the lad for a long time. He's a good player and we're giving it as much time as we can.

"I'm hopeful, but I was hopeful last weekend."
