Bolton boss Coyle set to give opportunity to Gardner

Bolton manager Owen Coyle has revealed he will give midfielder Ricardo Gardner a chance to stake his claim for a new contract.

The 32-year old Jamaican's Reebok Stadium contract expires this summer but Coyle will make sure he is given some playing time to see if there is a place for him at the club next season.

Gardner recently returned from a loan spell with Preston North End, where he played in three wins in four games, and he will now get more game time in the Premier League says Coyle.

"The loan move gave Ricardo a month at a very good level," said the Trotters boss.

"I have to thank Preston for allowing him to play the games he did. That was great for us.

"Now I have to be fair to Ricardo. He will return to the squad and I will give him the chance to earn that next contract."
