Bolton boss Coyle has great respect for Arsenal and Wenger

New Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle admits he has great respect for Arsenal and their manager Arsene Wenger.

Coyle kicks off his Bolton career today against the Gunners.

"Arsene came to my office afterwards, had a drink and was very gracious in defeat," Coyle told The Herald of Burnley's victory over the Gunners. "No manager likes to lose but we all have to do it. Arsene liked the way we played football, with pace and movement, and we have a good relationship.

"He had already given us a player on loan when he let Mark Randall join us in my first season at Burnley and we were hoping to bring Jack Wilshere to the club as well. He is one of the most talented strikers I have seen and he's still only 17. However, Arsenal had injuries and kept hold of Jack but maybe I will try to get him to Bolton.

"Arsenal are a major club in global terms, like Celtic and Manchester United, and they are what everyone aspires to be. You have to keep moving on in football. Arsenal got rid of Highbury and now the Emirates gives them serious money.

"Bolton cannot match that, but the club has moved since I left here in 1995 and came back up the road to Dundee United. Burnden has gone and the Reebok has replaced it and we also have a wonderful modern training complex."
