Bologna striker Alberto Gilardino has urged Italy fans to be patient with their young team.

Veteran Gila set up the equaliser for Marco Verratti in a 1-1 draw with Holland.

"This team is full of youngsters, so it is a positive Italy looking forward. We faced a strong side today who know how to play the ball well, but we got the draw and by pushing a bit more we could've even won tonight.

"I am very happy to be back in the Nazionale, as it had been a long time since I'd played with this jersey. I tried to help the team and gave Verratti an assist for the goal, but the most important thing for me was to be part of the squad. It is important for me to wear the Italy shirt and it always will be."
