Bologna striker Marco di Vaio was delighted with his hat-trick yesterday against Sampdoria.

"I dedicate my hat-trick to my mother Rosella," said Di Vaio after a 3-0 victory over Sampdoria.

"This will be the best season of my career if I manage to overcome my record of 20 goals. It would be wonderful for me, but I am living it one day at a time."

The striker will turn 33 in July, but reveals he is on the shortlist for an Azzurri cap after approaching his career best of 20 goals for Parma in 2001-02.

"If I got into the Nazionale, I'd be the happiest man in the world. I know that Lippi is watching me and he is aware I am doing well.

"He has a great variety of forwards to choose from and will make his decisions based on what is best for the team. I am relaxed, whatever happens."
