Bologna striker Marko Arnautovic admits he found it difficult to turn down Manchester United in August.
United manager Erik ten Hag sought to sign his former FC Twente striker before the summer market shut.
Arnautovic recalled: "Manchester United tried several times to sign me.
"The decision to stay in Italy was difficult because my family wanted to return to England. It is clear to me that the Red Devils remain at the top of the universe and Bologna do not.
"But it's normal. Everything is calm here, there is time for yourself and no stress."
