Bogdan gunning for Mignolet's number one spot at Liverpool

Liverpool goalkeeper Adam Bogdan is looking to dislodge Simon Mignolet as the number one choice between the sticks at Anfield.

Bogdan arrived at Liverpool from Bolton Wanderers on a free transfer this summer with the knowledge that he would be used as a back-up to first choice Mignolet.

Now Bogdan is likely to make his competitive debut for Liverpool in Wednesday night's Capital One Cup clash against Carlisle United and ahead of the game, the Hungarian international has expressed his desire to become the number one goalkeeper at Anfield this season and beyond.

Bogdan told the Liverpool Echo: "The team hasn't been announced yet but if I get the chance to start then it will be a big night for me. If I play then it's a chance to get a game under my belt and show what I can do.

"That's what we're all here for - to enjoy playing for Liverpool. I didn't sign for Liverpool to sit around on the bench or be happy being the No 2 keeper. Like everyone else, I'm here to compete for a place in the team.

"Of course when I signed I knew it was going to be hard with Simon for competition. Since I signed, I've seen every day in training how much effort and energy he puts in to get better and to stay as the No 1. I like working with him and I'm learning every day in a fantastic environment."
