Released Liverpool goalkeeper Adam Bogdan is delighted for Andy Lonergan over his Reds contract.
The pair spent three seasons vying for the goalkeeping jersey at Bolton Wanderers before both leaving the club at the end of their contracts in 2015.
“I'm very, very happy for him," the Hungarian told the Liverpool Echo. “He always really wanted to play in the Premier League. He's been a great talent from the beginning and always a good goalkeeper.
“I spoke to him after the Sevilla. I thought it was incredible, what a story. It's amazing, he was playing for Rochdale last season, Middlesbrough before that but not playing, and then he got a chance and he played.
“We were talking about how he'd done well but probably wouldn't get a deal because they had enough keepers with Alisson back. Then something happens in the first game and he's back."
He continued: “He's a brilliant guy, a fantastic guy. He's happy, a nice person. He has experience, not with big teams but massive experience in football.
“He works his socks off in training. He's a very good goalkeeper otherwise he wouldn't get the deal.
“I'm sure he will be a good character in the dressing room and try and do everything to push the other keepers and help them as well.
“Now he gets the chance to be part of this team at Liverpool. Wow, what a story."
