Galatasaray midfielder Hakim Ziyech's opening goal last night against Manchester United should not have stood.
Ziyech scored twice and was named man of the match after the 3-3 Champions League draw.
But his first goal, from a free-kick, should've been disallowed.
“If three or more defensive players form a wall, all attacking players must remain at least one metre from the wall until the ball is in play," the rule booklet states.
Even before Ziyech took the free kick, the distance between Galatasaray striker Mauro Icardi and the United wall was only 61 centimeters, meaning the goal should have been officially disallowed.
