Skysports.com reports Premier League newcomers Blackpool are in talks with Ipswich striker Jon Stead. The 27-year-old frontman is set to leave Ipswich this summer after falling out of favour with manager Roy Keane, and the Seasiders have come in with a surprise offer.
Boss Ian Holloway is looking to quickly bolster his squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.
Blackpool have yet to make a single signing this summer and have just over two weeks until their first competitive match.
Stead does boast top-flight experience, though, having played in the Premier League for Blackburn Rovers, Sunderland and Sheffield United.
