Blackpool chairman Oyston dismisses Holloway job doubts

Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston has rubbished claims manager Ian Holloway is leaving.

Oyston would not normally comment on such rumours, but a story on Tuesday alleging that Holloway had walked away from Bloomfield Road had fuelled such discussion among supporters that he felt clarification was needed.

The Seasiders are currently preparing for the start of their first Premier League campaign against Wigan on Saturday and Oyston is looking forward to continuing his relationship with Holloway.

Oyston admits the manager was not at the club on Tuesday but insists it was just because he was travelling back from business elsewhere.

"I don't usually deal with rumours because if I did I'd be doing nothing else all day long, but I can tell you that this is total nonsense," Oyston told the Blackpool Gazette.

"We are perhaps not particularly savvy to the media spotlight at the moment and I think people put two and two together because the manager was not at the club, he was travelling up from Bristol.

"It is important for Ian and myself to stick together at this time and not to panic and get too excited and hopefully with the characters we are, we're a good foil for each other."
