Blackpool boss Ian Holloway admits this summer's transfer market has been a hard slog.
But the boss is determined to make some headway soon and says he will make renewed attempts to land some of those players. If he fails, he will move on to different targets.
Holloway told the Blackpool Gazette: "All we want is to try to bring the right people to this football club to help us move forward and that is proving so, so difficult. I cannot tell you (how difficult) it is.
"It was amazing that we won promotion and I thought the lads were superb. Unfortunately, two or three of the lads who helped us do it (Campbell, Dobbie and Seamus Coleman) aren't here now.
"I've spent most of the summer trying to buy them and I can't.
"We offered the money their clubs wanted for them and they still turned us down."
