Blackburn's Savage unhappy missing Europe

Blackburn midfielder Robbie Savage says he will monitor the progress of England's UEFA Cup representatives this week with a sense of regret.

The former Wales international is disappointed his side tumbled out in the first round when they lost to Larissa of Greece.

Savage said: "Playing in Europe is the pinnacle for any player and I would love to still be in the UEFA Cup.

"We have let ourselves down only twice this season, against Larissa and Portsmouth in the league.

"It is a shame about the UEFA Cup as we were just starting to get used to playing Thursday and Sunday."
