Blackburn's Bentley admits contract talks on-hold

Blackburn Rovers winger David Bentley admits new contract talks are on-hold.

The Sun says Bentley, 23, has been in talks over a £50,000-a-week extension to his current deal - which still has three years to run - for three months.

However, Bentley, who is on duty with England for tomorrow's game at home to the USA, will sign only if a get-out clause is included.

Blackburn are not interested in that option because a get-out clause forced them to sell Craig Bellamy to Liverpool for £6.5million in 2006.

Asked at yesterday's England Press conference whether he had signed his deal, Bentley replied: "No I haven't."

The FA media chief then moved in to stop him answering further questions.
