Espanyol have lost striker Dani Osvaldo for two months following leg surgery.

Osvaldo was a target for Blackburn Rovers and Wigan Athletic before he picked up the injury during Sunday's 4-0 Primera Division victory over Real Zaragoza.

"Tests confirmed that Daniel Osvaldo has suffered an almost complete rupture of the left adductor," read a club statement.

"Doctors believe that surgery is recommended because it is a very simple operation.

"The striker would be around two months."
