Brett Emerton is set to become the first Australian player to switch the English Premier League for the A-League. The Blackburn Rovers midfielder will officially be unveiled as Sydney FC's latest marquee signing on Thursday after having his Rovers contract terminated by mutual consent.
Reports suggest that 32-year old Emerton has signed a three-year deal with the Sky Blues after passing a medical in Manchester on Wednesday (AEST).
Emerton has been at Ewood Park for the past eight years but has decided to return home just as Socceroos teammate Harry Kewell has done with his deal at Melbourne Victory late last week.
