Blackburn fullback Salgado: Mourinho needs title to keep Real Madrid job

Blackburn Rovers defender Michel Salgado has questioned whether Jose Mourinho will keep his job if Real Madrid do not win the Champions League this season.

Former Real fullback Salgado reckons the Spanish giants will not accept anything other than the Portuguese coach leading the team to glory at Wembley in May.

"Real only have the Champions League and Copa del Rey left - and the Copa del Rey is not enough for Real Madrid," said Salgado, with Real some eight points adrift of La Liga leaders Barcelona after losing their first home game in 25 matches when beaten by 1-0 Sporting Gijon at the weekend.

"The fans know Madrid have spent a lot of money in the last few years.

"Madrid need to win a title. They signed Mourinho just for that.

"They did not sign him for his style - it was to win the Champions League. If he does not do that, he will be a failure to Real Madrid.

"But first of all they have to beat Tottenham and that will not be easy."
