Blackburn boss Allardyce: I missed Premiership pressure

Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce admits he's happy to be back in the pressure-cooker atmosphere of the Premiership.

Allardyce, 54, said: "In the end, it is bizarre. You are happy not to have the pressure and the whole of your life totally absorbed by football. Then you miss it.

"You miss that pressure. You miss making all the decisions day by day, week by week, the interaction with players and staff, pulling everyone together and getting results.

"You just need to get back into it. That is why Sir Alex (Ferguson) goes on. He would miss it. He thought through that period when he said it was his last year and then wondered 'What will I do after this?' Finally, he decided 'It is not time'.

"He made the right decision for him and the club to stay with it.

"You'll never see another one like him. There is not a breed like him. That sort of man with that sort of dedication and total life commitment to football is something special."
