Sunderland midfielder Lee Cattermole will miss the clash with Southampton at Stadium of Light on Saturday.

The 27-year-old injured his groin in the 6-2 defeat against Everton, and boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed that the game on Saturday will come too soon for him.

Allardyce said: "I don't think it's that serious but he certainly won't be fit for the weekend. We have to wait until Monday night when we play [Crystal Palace on November 23], so he certainly has enough time to recover."
