Birmingham City are still finalising the signing of Ecuador striker Christian Benitez.

The Birmingham Mail says the highly-rated Benitez, who could end up costing £9 million, has flown into England and has had a stringest physical examination.

Blues were studying the results closely as Benitez recently had a shoulder operation, and broke his leg in November.

Unless there are any unforeseen complications, the formalities to his switch from Mexican side Santos Laguna should be completed soon and an announcement made thereafter.
