England U19 international defender Krystian Pearce has been recalled by Birmingham City from his loan with Notts County.

The centre-half made nine appearances for Notts during the last two months. Manager Ian McParland said: "We had spoken to Birmingham last week and he was due to stay with us, but they have decided to take him back. It's a blow."

With Radhi Jaidi away at the African Cup of Nations, Rafael Schmitz having only returned from injury on Saturday at Arsenal, and Martin Taylor's future uncertain, Blues wanted more options at centre-half.
