Birmingham facing battle to prise Boyd from Rangers

Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish is ready to shelve plans to bring Rangers striker Kris Boyd south.

The Scottish Sun says McLeish has a £40million war chest to spend but with his side on a record 11-match unbeaten run, he is in no rush to splash out.

He would do this month for Rangers striker Boyd but that now looks like being Mission Impossible.

Boyd has been a long-term target for McLeish, who he signed when he was at Rangers.

But McLeish cannot see them letting Boyd go after he broke the SPL scoring record by reaching 160 with five goals in the 7-1 win over Dundee United.
