Championship Birmingham have approached Hibernian of the SPL for permission to speak to manager Colin Calderwood form the post of assistant coach, reports Press Association Sport. Blues see Calderwood as a candidate to become number two to new boss Chris Hughton.
Hughton and Calderwood previously worked together at Newcastle as manager and first team coach respectively.
Before that, Calderwood had been a player and Hughton on the coaching staff at the same time at Tottenham.
The former Scottish international previously had managerial experience at Northampton and Nottingham Forest.
