Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish admits Rafael Schmitz's long-term future at St Andrews is still to be decided.

The Brazilian is on-loan from Lille and McLeish said: "I left Rafa Schmitz out last week simply because Martin Taylor came back, he would have been gone if I'd got the centre-half I wanted.

"I wouldn't want him hanging about as third or fourth choice but I wanted to change it so 'Tiny' came in and Rafa was left out.

"Rafa's on loan until the end of the season and has done quite well for me. But I was always uncomfortable with two left-footers in the centre of defence."
