Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish has warned clubs off midfield pair Olivier Kapo and Fabrice Muamba.

Football's grapevine is buzzing that Steve Bruce would like to raid Blues for Muamba and take him to Wigan Athletic.

Sunderland have made an inquiry about Kapo's situation.

McLeish said: "We have had no bids whatsoever and hopefully it will stay that way.

"We hope to add to the squad, not weaken it.

"Fab has been an everpresent, he's been excellent for us and he's a great athlete who can only get better.

"Olivier's not been with us that much the last six weeks because of niggly injuries and when I first came I left him on the bench. He's responded in the right way and trained and shown signs he's ready again."
