Birmingham boss Clarke: Man Utd's Lingard as talented as Morrison

Birmingham City boss Lee Clark rates Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard in the same class as West Ham United's Ravel Morrison.

Lingard has just extended his loan at St Andrews, where Morrison spent part of last season.

"He's right up there (talent-wise, with Morrison)," said Clark to the Birmingham Mail.

"He's very humble and quiet around the football club. You don't really notice him in terms of walking around the building, he just gets on with his job.

"He's very respectful to everybody and seems to have had a very good upbringing and schooling.

"He's a very elegant footballer, lovely on the eye and can play numerous positions across the top end of the field.

"What I like about him is that he's got the goalscoring instinct, even if he's playing in the wide areas he wants to get into the penalty area from crosses coming in from the other side.

"He plays the game with a smile on his face. He looks like he is enjoying his time here. I chased him for so long I didn't think it was going to happen at one stage, especially when he had a brilliant pre-season across in Asia with the first team.

"I just thought that was going to put an end to it all.

"But, you know, I kept asking the question and thankfully David Moyes and Manchester United allowed us to bring him in."
