Birmingham City boss Lee Clark has urged Newcastle United not to offload Shane Ferguson.
Ferguson spent last season on-loan with Clark at St Andrews.
Clark told the Evening Chronicle: "I am hoping it will all have been a good experience for him.
"Sometimes when things do not go well it can still work out for you, you learn more in adversity sometimes.
"As a player you will not have a brilliant season every season in your career.
"You will have your ups and downs and it is how Shane reacts to that now which matters.
"I know he was watched numerous times by Newcastle so they will have a dossier on how they thought he performed.
"I was in constant dialogue with John Carver and Steve Stone about how he was doing. So they understand."
