Birmingham boss Clark no fan of transfer windows

Birmingham City boss Lee Clark is no fan of the transfer windows system.

Clark, who tried and failed to sign Hatem Ben Arfa and Seb Hines on deadline day, said he was not a fan of the current transfer window system.

"I don't agree with it, because it becomes desperation stakes.

"You saw many deals and wondered how much planning went into them, how many were desperate.

"The old system was working. I don't understand why it was changed. If it wasn't working, fair enough, but it was working.

"And I agree when I hear managers say that if you're having a window it should shut three or four days, probably the Monday, before your season starts.

"So then you know that is your group, you are not playing three or four games and there's a possibility of changing your squad completely.

"It is not ideal. But, as I've said, the good thing for me is that we didn't lose any players."
