Birmingham boss Bruce admits Luccin "complication"

Birmingham City boss Steve Bruce admits a deal for Atletico Madrid midfielder Peter Luccin has stalled.

Bruce said: "We are looking at one or two things. We are hoping that at least one of them will materialise. When I analyse the whole thing, with the work that we've done, I've been very pleased.

"How far is the Luccin deal down the line? There has been a complication in the last 24 hours but we are hoping to resolve that, maybe on Wednesday, but we will have to wait and see.

"I am still confident that he will come but, with all of these things, you have to be patient. We are running out of time a little bit but we have to know one way or the other.

"If we don't get him, then we will have to look to someone else because that area of the pitch is where I am least covered at the moment."

Bruce is convinced Luccin would make a big impact at St Andrews should the £2million deal go ahead.

He said: "Peter is a very good footballer. You don't play 100 times for Atletico Madrid over the last three years without being a good footballer.

"He played for Celta Vigo three years before that, Marseille, Bordeaux. He is a top, top footballer. He will be a very good signing for us if we get him, something a bit different."
